Our team
Marion Valster
Marion is a registered psychologist, who enjoys working with people who feel stuck, who struggle with life, perhaps asking themselves whether this is all there is.
Marion has experience working with a range of mental health issues, and has a special interest in working with first responders (QPS, QAS, QFS, SES, and QCS), and workplace issues, including WorkCover.
Marion came to psychology later in life, after a career in ICT, and workplace coaching. She has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) majoring in Psychology, a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) majoring in leadership and change, and is currently completing a Doctor of Psychology. She is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi).
Marion’s special interest areas in psychology are neuroscience (the brain and its impact on behaviour and thinking), coaching/positive psychology (the science of wellbeing), and adult ADHD. Neuroscience teaches us how to use our own bodies to help with improving our moods and thinking (human beings rather than human doings). Positive psychology helps look at how we want to feel and be, and focuses on how to get us there.
Using a strengths-based approach, Marion employs a range of therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
